Over his 25+ year career, Mike spent 12 of those as a professional management consultant with a "Big 4" tax, audit, consulting firm, an elite boutique firm specializing in strategy formulation, strategic planning, customer/channel planning, go-to-market strategy, and sales capability development & strategic selling training. He also provided independent consulting services prior to forming Agility Growth Partners. His clients were diverse, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 Conglomerates, and industries included manufacturing, CPG, Business Services, Professional Services, Business Process Outsourcing / IT Services, Food & Beverage, Distribution & Logistics, Wine / Beer / Spirits , Retail, Hospitality, and Industrial products.
During the other 13+ years of his career, Mike held operating roles of increasing responsibility with companies such as Allison Gas Turbine, Bankers Trust (NYC), Frito-Lay / PepsiCo, 360i (a pioneering agency in the SEO field), and Education Corporation of America (a Private Equity portfolio company). Functionally, he led local, regional and national teams in field finance and sales organizations with Frito-Lay / PepsiCo where he was awarded Frito-Lay's "Field Finance's Finest" award for excellence in sales & trade spend analytics, strategic planning and budgeting.
While at Education Corporation of America, Mike led a dramatic turnaround of ECA's flagship campus, doubling revenues, multiplying profits by 4x, streamlining operational efficiency improvement by over 50%, flipping the campus's strategic paradigm 180 degrees, and raising faculty, staff and student morale 180 degrees - all in less than 16 months and with no prior experience in higher education management. After 16 months, he was promoted to the company's first Region VP & GM which was effectively a COO role. While managing multiple on-ground campuses, he also led the creation of a brand new division / brand for ECA by rapidly translating a concept into the country's first brick & mortar, accredited college of any kind entirely dedicated to renewable energy and environmental sustainability. Simultaneous to all that, he also was President of ECA's Golf Academy of America division - his favorite role, given his deep passion for the great game of golf.
Mike is married with three talented children and an entertaining Coton de Tulear dog. He calls Birmingham, AL, home, and he is an ardent Crimson Tide college football fan. In his free time he enjoys spending quality time which his kids playing and teaching golf, cooking (okay, grilling more than cooking), helping those in need however he can, and playing the piano.
